RanelaghFest a great success and more to look forward to ……

RanelaghFest 2011 was a great success with a varied programme that included drama, dancing, debate, readings, music, siamsaíocht, comhrá , yoga, walks, crafts, history, dogs and even friendly snakes! Thank you to all who made it possible.

Ranelagh community and cultural groups continue to host events in the coming weeks. Look out for :

UNIQUE ART PROJECT BY AIDEEN BARRY OPENS TO THE PUBLIC IN GAELSCOIL LIOS NA NOG, OAKLEY ROAD,

Saturday 1st October at 8 pm in Sandford Church, Ranelagh

The Ranelagh Singers under the direction of Rosemary O’Brien present an evening of secular and religious music by The Masters of the Renaissance including works by Hassler, Victoria, Wilbye, Lassus and a performance of the Missa Brevis by Palestrina.

Special Guests:  The Gonzaga College Orchestra

Admission:  €10 (Students and OAPs €5)

Fundraising Table Quiz a great success!

A big thank you to all who took part in the Table Quiz on Friday 17th June. Thank you also to the following Ranelagh business who supported us with prizes and contributions:

RanelaghFest Public Meeting

When: Monday May 9th

Where: RMD School,Ranelagh Road.

When: 8pm

At this meeting we intend to democratically elect a further 4 people on to the Committee which will then get on with the business of planning the Festival for September13th to 18th Sept..

We would like to have as many of the Community on the Board of Members as possible. If you wish to become a Member the please come along early for registration.

Membership costs E10.0 (E5.0 for students and the unwaged) and gives one the right to vote at public meeting and AGM’s.

Inaugural lecture of the Ranelagh Literary and Historical Society

Tonight Weds.4th May, the Ranelagh L&H will deliver its inaugural lecture in the RMDSchool in Ranelagh at 8pm.

Admission is E5.0 at the door.

The lecture is entitled ‘Writers and the Revolution’

‘Did Irish Writers rehearse or lay the ground for the Easter Rising, 50 years earlier.’

The lecture will be delivered by UCD retired Professor of History,

Michael Laffan.
